Why choose environmentally friendly plasticizers?

The use of plasticizers can improve the performance of polymer materials, reduce production costs, and improve production efficiency.

PVC products, toys, mobile phone cases, furniture, etc. on the market all contain plasticizers. With the continuous improvement of environmental protection requirements, DOTP plasticizers have gradually replaced the use of DOP. European customers are still acceptable to environmentally friendly REACH products produced with DOTP plasticizers.

The advantage of DOTP is that it does not contain phthalates. DOTP is a polyphenylene plasticizer. Its chemical name is dioctyl terephthalate. It has good electrical and thermal properties. It can replace DOP phthalate plasticizer in PVC plastic electrical wire sheaths and can also be used in the production of artificial leather films. It can be used as a softener in rubber, chloroprene rubber, EPDM and other products. Since DOTP does not contain phthalates, it is not within the scope of the 16 phthalate-containing plasticizers restricted for use in the EU and other regions. Therefore, it is an excellent environmentally friendly plasticizer.

DOTP has better cold resistance. DOTP and DOP are isomers with the same molecular number and molecular weight, and are both main plasticizers. DOTP and DOP have similar physical properties and similar mechanical properties for products, but because DOTP has a linear symmetrical structure and DOP has a spherical structure, DOTP has more outstanding performance. The main differences are as follows:
1. Better electrical resistance: DOTP’s volume resistivity is 20 times that of DOP;
2. Better heat resistance: DOTP’s flash point is more than 10℃ higher than DOP, so DOTP is particularly suitable for 70℃ to 90℃ high-intensity cables;
3. Better cold resistance: DOTP is significantly better than DOP and slightly lower than DOA and DOS, but its price is significantly lower than DOA and DOS, so DOTP is mostly used in sealing strips for cars, refrigerators, doors and windows, etc., which can reduce costs.
